My research and teaching interests include Old and Middle English literature and language, the history of the book, vernacular textual and editing studies, and medieval rhetorical analysis and reception theory (specifically the transmission of manuscripts from the Middle Ages and the analysis of Middle English writing systems). My interest in rhetorical analysis and textual studies informs my research and teaching of various contemporary areas (specifically cultural studies, composition, book culture and editorial theory) and various genres (dramatic literature, poetry and prose works). In addition, I am a member of the Cotton Nero A.x. Project, which, with support of the British Library, aims to produce electronic editions of the famous 14th-century poems Pearl, Cleanness, Patience, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
